Advice for Road Runners: The New Balance Men's Fresh Foam X 860 V14 Running Shoes feature a completely updated midsole design - with the goal of making them softer and more comfortable. 

Underfoot Feel

The evolved Fresh Foam X midsole features two layers of foam: a top layer of softer foam, and a bottom layer of firmer foam. This should create a softer underfoot feel in comparison to the previous model.

The New Balance Fresh Foam X 860 V14 Running Shoes do not feature a medial post. In contrast to the previous version, these have an EVA film (named Stability Plane) running through the two layers of foam. New Balance's testing makes them confident this new technology works better than the previous support structure. 

In summary, the film combines with the firmer bottom layer of foam to slow down the speed and degree of pronation. The soft top layer of foam enhances comfort and protection.

Upper Fit

The New Balance Fresh Foam X 860 V14 Running Shoes have a supportive engineered mesh upper. This should mirror the structured feel of the midsole.

Ideal Run Type

The New Balance Men's Fresh Foam X 860 V14 Running Shoes should feel relatively soft and bouncy underfoot. As a result, they're likely to feel comfortable for both slow and steady paced runs. They're also suitable for short and long distances.
